Named in honour of Hasegawa Tōhaku, one of Japan’s most celebrated painters and a native of Nanao City, the Tohaku Candle pays tribute to his masterpiece, The Pine Trees Screen. The painting captures a misty pine forest through delicate variations of ink, inspired by memories of the landscape surrounding his childhood home.
